As a Cloud Architect at our client, one of your main goals is to drive the design and architecture of our client’s tailor-made cloud solutions (infrastructure, services and applications) and make sure they get up-and-running and secure. You work directly for our client’s customers in projects to design and build solutions and are able to explain your designs to the customer in layman’s terms.

As a Cloud Architect you are part of our client’s Global Development Services team that is responsible for all tailor-made solutions, but are also closely linked to the Cloud Operations team that is responsible for our client’s standard Cloud products.

Responsibilities and challenges

As an experienced Cloud Architect, you set the standards and improve on the core responsibilities of the Global Development Services DevOps teams: availability, performance, efficiency, security, change management and capacity planning of our client’s Cloud solutions that are hosted in Microsoft Azure.

You continuously improve the monitoring capabilities, including alerts, to make sure that our client’s cloud solutions are highly available in a performant and secure way. You do this by working closely together with the Cloud Operations Engineers who are responsible for embedding the cloud operations principles into one or more specific solutions. You provide input for enhancements and preventive maintenance to the relevant development team(s). You train and coach junior Cloud Operations Engineers and get them to a higher level.

Job Requirements

You have 3+ years of experience in architecture, design, configuration, and deployment within the Microsoft Azure platform

You have a BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline

You have a high-quality standard and a good feeling for clear concepts, cost-efficient and sustainable solutions

You like to set standards as a guideline for others to comply to after implementing it by yourself first

You are able to ‘sell’ new and improved guidelines to our customers and our development organization to the relevant stakeholders

You have experience with:

  • Experience with implementing scalable (consumer) web applications and data platform solutions
  • Azure services like Application Gateway, App services, CDN, AD (B2C), Functions, Event Grid, Event hubs, Cosmos DB, Blob storage, etc
  • CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins etc
  • Infrastructure as code via ARM Templates

You have knowledge of:

  • Microsoft cloud solutions such as IaaS, PaaS, and Serverless
  • Network topologies and firewalls
  • Security best practices in infrastructure, application, IAM, or data platform solutions

You like to work on improving one or more of the following in a cloud environment: monitoring, alerts, security, build & deployment

Willingness to take part in on-call duties to support our customers 24/7 (approx. 8 weeks per year). You will be generously compensated
